2. Why you are interested in attending TCNJ and what interests you most about the Cheerleading Program?

Standing and Running Tumbling:
All tumbling submitted must be on a mat panel or cross tumbling for any running passes. Tumbling on trampolines, tumble-tracks, or non-competition surfaces will not be counted
1. Standing tumbling (handspring or tuck) must start with a shrug and finish with a clean stand at the end
2. Standing Tumbling should be in the same attire as the rest of your video
3. Running tumbling: Please show your best running pass as well as a hand pass
Note: Do no show any tumbling you are unable to perform in person at tryouts. Previous year Competition videos will not be counted toward your tumbling score.
Stunts:
1. Competition videos will not be accepted. Videos at Spring college clinics in 2024 are acceptable.
2. Videos must be of a clear stunt group on an approved surface, and should clearly showcase you and your skill set as it stands currently in Spring of 2024. Returning members: videos must be dated after January.
3. Stunts chosen for your video must show the start and finish of the stunt. Unfinished skills will not count.
4. Stunts that do not hit will not be evaluated. It is suggested that you include stunts that are performed properly that start and finish clean.
5. Required skills:
- Spinning skills: full up pull through to stretch
- Inverted release to prep or extension
- Hand in hand to extended platform
- Rewinds, hand in hands extended, flipping dismounts, collegiate baskets or any other collegiate skills performed with a college team or at a college clinic will be accepted. This includes any collegiate pyramids you've done at clinics or with your team should you be interested in transferring.
Recommendations:
- Candidates will be evaluated on their game-day presence and overall ability to lead a crowd. Clear and confident voice projection is an important consideration during the material section of the tryout. This section is judged as a simple Y or N.
- Perform material with clean, sharp motions. Focus on proper placement and timing.
- Stunts should highlight proper technique, and should be approached clean clean from the start with a performance ready finish.
- Tumbling section should showcase a clean approach, skill, and landing.
- Be sure all guidelines are followed down to the label of your folder during video submission. Ability to read and follow directions goes a long way in the evaluation process and is taken into account.
Additional info:
Once all candidates have been interviewed, the teams will be announced through our "Team Members" page. Team members will have 24 hours to accept their positions via email once the page is live following tryouts.
